something in the water

this morning i had an early lunch with a friend and his family.
he's moving to new york today.
it was fun + tasty + overall awesome
but also emotional because he's wanted this for as long as i've known him
and now it's really happening.
even though i am so happy + excited for him,
i'm not 100% sure when we're going to see each other again.
which is a little sad.
i'm here living my dream + he's (on a bus headed) there living his.
it's like there's something in the water.
if i hadn't forgotten my camera, i would've had pictures of pieces of avocado,
my favorite french fries in pittsburgh,
and bittersweet hugs.
instead i have some snapshots of what i listened to this morning.
(which you can find here)

now i'm going to organize my throng of lit + history books,
watch old episodes of ER i've seen dozens of times,
and celebrate the fact that we are only 37 days away from the first puck drop
of the penguins' 11-12 season.
(a.k.a. 37 days until my life feels normal again)

what are you up to this evening?

  1. you will see him again ... pa is not far from nyc. and, i covet your record player and the record spinning on it! this evening i'm going through 200 beach photos taken over two days, which seems like a lot! i wish my husband would stop me from taking so many.

  2. Aw, it's always sad to see a friend leave town. I feel like all of mine are leaving and I just wish I was one of them off living my dreams too. Soon though. :) But it's nice you got to have a final meal and a goodbye with him before he left. I'm sure you'll cross paths again soon enough. :)

If you don't mind my asking, I'm in the market for a record player. Don't know much about them yet (very, VERY preliminary searches now), but which type to you have, and how do you like it?

  3. i'm sure you'll see each other again, but i totally know the feeling, especially when you pretty much know you won't. but i guess i always treat goodbyes as see you sooner or laters anyway.
