a different year

I: greer garson snoozing in her favorite spot // II: i like stacks of books  // III: my favorite frida kahlo. can you spot the rip?

yesterday it was so cold in my apartment i turned on the oven
except it was so cold in my apartment that the change in temperature
kept setting off the smoke alarm.
but then everything was okay because i re-watched the dexter S6 premiere,
which included my favorite line on any TV show ever:
"i have no idea what hammertime is...or how it differs from regular time."
i seriously want that engraved on my urn, under the pittsburgh penguins logo,
and "SUCK IT, NERDS!" in all caps.

today my fingers smell like clementines,
my DVR is set for the first regular season game of the season,
and i figured out my midterms study schedule.
i know. midterms. can you believe it?
it's going to be thanksgiving before i know it.
then my birthday.
then, let's get real, it's going to be a different year altogether, all shiny and new.
yikes.
here's to trying to stay in the moment,
which for me means a sleepy kitten, worn sweat pants, textbooks, candles,
and a plan to go to bed early.

what's your present moment like?

  2. Your writing style is MAGNIFICENT!

Currently: I am catching up on my beloved blog reading, typing away while my husband sits nearby playing a cell phone version of Backgammon (boring!). AND Once Bitten is on the tv...a Jim Carrey classic in my opinion. ;)

Loving your blog! Can't wait to read more. xx

  4. i love that kahlo. it has always been one of my faves because it speaks to me personally.

my present moment: i hear kids playing in another room, i smell bread baking and soup simmering. the afternoon light coming through the window is just right.

  8. I love your photos! I just played catch-up with all your posts. I'm so glad you're finally feeling truly happy in your new place. It's so weird adjusting to the new chapters in life, but so worth it.

I love that you want "SUCK IT, NERDS!" on your urn. Liz Lemon forever!
